About Pat Peirson's Potpourri
I was born in Redcar, North Yorkshire, England, and named Patricia Carole
Peirson. While I was growing up, my grandmother Lily Covell Peirson told me
many stories about the people in the family, some of which seemed like pretty
tall tales at the time, but tended to generate some curiosity about my "roots".

I didn't write much information down in those days, but kept it in my mental
library for many years, intending to do more research on it when time
permitted.

I raised four children, then became a grandmother myself, before I
actually "found" the time to do more research. I took up genealogy as a hobby
in 2001, after retiring in 2000, and have found it quite fascinating so far.
I especially like the "detective work" involved, but also like to speculate a
little now and then, and pose questions such as "How did great-grandad Askew
and great-grandma Davidson ever meet, when they were born so far away from
each other?"

You may find the answer to that kind of question in these pages, but mostly
you'll learn, as I have over the past few years, that every one of our
ancestors had some kind of story to tell.

I encourage visitors to the site to sign the guest book, so that I'll know who
they are, but you can remain anonymous if you'd rather. If you happen to see
a name that rings a bell from your own knowledge of family, please don't
hesitate to contact me.

Many thanks to the following for providing MAJOR assistance: Al Kirtley,
(Blacketts and their intermarriages ); David Wallace (Covells, Rispins,
Hartforths, Brydons); Valma White, Dawn Harman and Julian Rowe (Covells); Ann
Kettlewell,(Peirsons and Ramsays); Hilary South and David Hall(Ramsays), and
others too numerous to mention who have also provided information.
